Join Pampers – Participate, Vaccinate & Eliminate Tetanus

Each year, approximately 140,000 infants and 30,000 women in developing countries die from tetanus, which can be contracted during childbirth.  That’s one death every three minutes.  Women in these countries often must give birth at home where conditions might be unsanitary, and many lack access to adequate health care or training in basic hygiene techniques. The disease rages through newborns within days of their exposure to the tetanus bacteria and almost always leads to a swift and painful death.

Together WE can make a change along with The Pampers “One Pack = One Vaccine” program to help UNICEF make a difference for vulnerable mothers and babies around the world and help protect them against this life-threatening, but preventable disease.  The tetanus vaccines provided by funding from Pampers globally will impact women and their babies in 27 in the less industrialized world, working towards eliminating MNT in several countries over the next couple of years. The goal of the global campaign is to provide 200 million more vaccines in the next 3 years,  helping UNICEF  to move closer toward their goal of eliminating maternal & newborn tetanus.

Pampers stands for happy, healthy development & it is great to see that the Pampers UNICEF 1 pack = 1 vaccine  campaign,  travelled from  1 country in Western Europe  to  the globe this year”, says Austin Lally, VP Baby & Toddler Care Babycare WE. “To date we raised already over 50 million vaccines. Each one of us can take this campaign personally and help us to reach our common objective to eliminate a disease which still claims the life of a newborn baby every 3 minutes: Tetanus.

“Participate, Vaccinate, Eliminate – will you join us in our mission?”

The launch of this global corporate & donor “PARTICIPATE – VACCINATE- ELIMINATE “ fund at The Greater Cincinnati Foundation  gives employees  the opportunity to raise funds beyond our Cause-Related Marketing Campaign. All employees will  have an opportunity to individually and collectively participate, with the overall message being whatever your role in the company, where ever you are located, you have a huge capacity to do good. P&G  MDO and GBU teams across the world can now join to kick off team fundraising activities to help protect vulnerable babies and mums’ lives. We look forward to your creativity to help us take our mission personal! To kick-start the fund, the Babycare teams in WE and CEEMEA will for example set up a sponsored cycle ride around Lake Geneva in Switzerland, as well as promotional canteen events. If you would like more details or are interested to set up your own team activities, please feel free to contact Tanja Levine, P&G ER Manager EMEA at tdlevine@pg.com
